2020 Pumpkin Decorating Contest

As we try to get creative with what our PTO can support and sponsor, we are doing a pumpkin carving contest this year!  Be sure to have your pictures uploaded by Oct. 27 and voting ends Oct. 29.  There will be 2 prizes per grade level.  To vote, “like” the pictures of the best pumpkins.  You can vote for different grade levels.

Stay Informed!

With so many unknowns this year, please make sure you are keeping up with changes this year at Olentangy’s microsite: olentangyschools.org.

We are working closely with administration to brainstorm ways that the PTO can support our students and staff.  Field Trips, assemblies and after school events are most likely off the table for 20-21 school year so we are trying to be creative!  If you have any ideas, let us know at [email protected]!

School Supply Sale

During this stressful time, the PTO is always looking for ways to help the parents of Alum Creek find conveniences. Starting today, pre-packaged school supply boxes will be available for you to order for the 2020-2021 school year. This is a great way to avoid the stores and have all of your school supplies delivered directly to the school. Knowing that these are potentially economically difficult times for our ACES families, this is NOT a PTO fundraiser – instead we will be offering the boxes to you at our cost.
School supply boxes can be ordered here: https://www.educationalproducts.com/ShopPacks/ with the School ID of ALU001 through June 26.
ATTENTION: Important Note for incoming 4th & 5th graders – The students need two Nicky folders for organizing their materials this year. These folders are included in the pre-packaged supply boxes. If you choose not to purchase the entire kit, we are asking that you purchase just the Nicky folders (found on page 2 of the school pack list), as they cannot be purchased elsewhere. (4th grade- Nickys Folder & Yellow Nickys Folder; 5th grade – Nickys Folder & Red Nickys Communicator Folder)
If you have any questions on school supply boxes, feel free to reach out to Leslie Hobbs at [email protected] or (808) 282-3736.
Please see the attached flyer!

Extended Closure Updates

Hello ACES Families!  We hope you and your children are doing well and adjusting to our new circumstances.  Your PTO board has been busy behind the scenes making decisions about upcoming programs based off district guidelines and contact with Mrs. Worth.  We will keep you updated as we have information but here’s what we can tell you so far.  We will be cancelling our Art Show Silent Auction and asking our businesses if we can use their donations for the 2021 Art Show.  This event was to be held May 1, the last day of our current Shelter in Place order.  We don’t want to burden small business and families by rescheduling at this time.
Our Enrichment Day was scheduled for May 8 and the committee has been hard at work securing speakers.  Because several of our speakers are families and small businesses, we feel like it’s a lot to ask of them to take more time away their first week back to work (if the order gets lifted May 1) and will therefore cancel Enrichment Day.
Other events sponsored by PTO such as Pioneer Day, 5th Grade Celebration, Field Day and Last Day of School Celebrations will be TBD as we get more information.  Mrs. Worth and the PTO board are determined to make some of these events happen, even if they are different dates and/or locations.  Stay tuned as we learn more.
We were planning on a Fundraiser Night with Romeo’s Pizza on April 15 and after contacting the business, they would still like to have the event for us.  We will have more info and how we will do this safely.
Our PTO board elections need to happen soon, according to our by-laws.  We will be sending you a link to vote on the slate electronically.
Finally…. VOTE!  This is soooo important for the future of our schools.  If you didn’t do early voting, you need to request an absentee ballot here https://boardofelections.co.delaware.oh.us/.
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.  We may not have the answers at this time but can let you know when we do.

Want to help out???

We have several opportunities for you to join us!

Are you an accountant?  We need someone to look over our taxes (it can be after April 15).

Do you like other people’s kids?  Do you understand the importance of parents getting time away?  If so- you could chair our Parents’ Night Out events.  We have a movie license, space and helpers, we just need a chair.

Are you organized and creative?  We need help with our Enrichment Day committee!  Please let us know if you would like to help our committee of three.  Many hands make light work.

Do you have a business or a contact for donations?  Our Art Show Silent Auction is May 1 and we are soliciting donations.

Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested.
